‘Text-a-prayer’ in Sweden

Posted: 23 Sep 11 | By: Daniel van der Spuy

Who would have thought God used a smart phone?

A New Generation group in Hässleholm Technical College, Sweden decided to initiate the classic ‘Text-A-Prayer’ idea. The group put up posters around the school with the number people could send their prayers to. They came up with the idea as one of the group members had an old mobile that they weren’t using at home.

“We have received a number of texts on the phone” says Anna Hilgers, a member of the group. “…everything from accounting to project work. We received one message from a guy who wanted us to pray that his English test would go well!”.

We love this idea. It’s such an easy way to make prayer accessible to the whole school. If you want to join the fun and do the same in your school, head over to NG+ by clicking the green button on the top-right of this page, click outreach and flick through the resources carousel at the bottom of the page. Easy!
