“Youth Alpha” Attracts 14

Posted: 07 Mar 11 | By: NG Team

Whilst you’ve probably heard of Alpha, you might not know that there’s a course tailored for young people called “Youth Alpha.” Alpha is an amazing tool for exploring the basics of our faith.Millions of people have been on the Alpha Course all over the world, and we’re really excited to be able to partner with them. It’s more or less the same content, but it’s adapted for a younger crowd. Youth alpha can be run in a church, a coffee shop or a youth centre, but you can also do it in your school. Some of our groups have already started running one, and we’e hearing some great things!

One group running Youth Alpha is the Christian Union at Andover College. To build up for the launch of the course in the end of January they secured themselves a stand at the Christmas Fete back in December. They had a questionnaire and a sign saying “’If you could ask God one question, what would it be?!’. This got people’s attention, and many approached the group and started asking questions. It was great advertising for the CU, and also a way to invite people to the Youth Alpha course.

After the launch of course, group leader Vikki said “The Alpha course is great, and around 14 people are steadily coming to it! We’ve had a lot of interest and the stall at the fete helped loads!”.

If you’re interested in starting a Youth Alpha course then you can check out their website www.youthalpha.org or simply have a chat with anyone in the NG Team about how your group can get started and we’ll point you in the right direction.
