Hello Lovisa!

Get to know Lovisa in the South Team! She’s 22 years old, lives in Bristol, and here’s her story.

“I heard about New Generation back in Sweden, where I’m from, and I was in a group in college. The Swedish Teamers visited us many times, and I became really interested in what they were doing since they’d become really big role models for me. That was when I decided I wanted to join the Team!

To make a long story short, it took some years before I applied, and when I did, it wasn’t for the UK Team. England seemed so far away, and I didn’t really think so much about it. But when our Team Coordinator asked if I wanted to come to England, although it was real surprise, I just took a leap of faith and said “yes”.

I left my security and stepped out of my comfort zone, not knowing what to expect. I met a bunch of new people that I was supposed to spend time and work with, and I suddenly had to spend most of my time speaking a language that I normally don’t speak, and live in a country with a different culture. But what I come to realise, just after a few days, was how amazingly fast the Team become a new “family” of friends. God really encouraged me to go forward and to trust in him, and after our first group visits, I realised how amazing it felt to meet young people and hear about the outreaches they where doing. Seeing the passion in their eyes made me passionate, and my vision and life changed totally!

So far, my Team Year has really made me grow as a person. It’s helped me see how much I need God, how much he loves me and young people, and it’s made me bolder than I’ve ever been before. Now I have the courage to stand in front of people and speak, be social and get connected with people…all in English! I just love it. I love the challenge!

So, if you want some adventure in your life and you want to make a difference in the lives of young people, teaming with New Generation is the best thing you could do. Step out, take a leap and trust in God. You won’t regret it!”
